Warnick pitches well, Gries and Quinlan homer to sweep Pioneers

PORTLAND, Oregon – Michael Warnick was sharp on the hill while Jack Gries and Mason Quinlan both homered as the Puget Sound baseball team completed a three-game sweep at Lewis & Clark with a 7-4 win Sunday afternoon.

Puget Sound held a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning when Gries launched a two-run home run, this third long ball of the season. Warnick allowed only one earned through six innings. He struck out three and walked none.

Gries was one of five Loggers to finish the game with multiple hits. Jake Briscoe, Mason Quinlan, Corey Roberts, and Tyler Brazelton each posted two hits against the Pioneers.

The Loggers took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Roberts led off with a single and Hunter Riley followed with a double to left field. A couple of batters later, Makoa Mau delivered a two-run single.

The Loggers added a couple of insurance runs in the ninth thanks a two-run home run by Quinlan.

Puget Sound returns home to host Linfield for a three-game Northwest Conference series, March 30-31.
