Women Win Logger Invite, Men Take Second

FIRCREST, Wash. - A career-best 77 from junior Sarah Bicker (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) helped lead the Puget Sound Logger women to victory by nearly 40 strokes at the Logger Invitational on Thursday and Friday at Fircrest Golf Club in Fircrest, Wash. The Logger men also played two strong rounds, taking second behind a talented Linfield team.

Bicker fired the two-over 77 to overcome a five-stroke deficit and tie Linfield's Brinn Hovde for medalist honors.  Junior Natalie Nakamine (Honolulu, Hawaii/Roosevelt) took fourth with a day-two 84 and a two-day 166 while Maresa Jenson (Whitefish, Mont.) fired an 88 to finish in fifth.  The Loggers won the team title win an 82-over 682, their top score of the season.  Linfield was second at 721, followed by Pacific Lutheran (749) and Willamette (858).

On the men's side, Linfield shot an even-par as a team on Friday to take the team title, led by a three-under 68 from Yutaro Sakamoto, who took medalist honors with a four-under 138.  The Loggers had some strong individual performances as well as Marc Phillips (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) shot a three-over 74 to finish the tournament in third place at three-over 145.  Sophomore Riley Conlin (Golden Valley, Minn./Breck) had a great tournament as well, shooting a two-over 73 to finish seven over for the tournament with 149, good enough for fourth place.

Linfield took the team title with a two-day 14-over 582.  The Loggers took second with a 34-over 602, followed by Pacific Lutheran (632) and Willamette (671).

The Logger men will be in action again on Mar. 17-18 when they travel to California to take part in the Redlands Invitational, which will be played at East Valley GC in Beaumont, Calif.  The Logger women will hit the links again on Mar. 21 when they take on Pacific Lutheran in a dual meet at Oakbrook Country Club in Lakewood, Wash.
