Roberts eclipsed 1,000 career points, but the Loggers lost to Linfield

TACOMA, Washington – Less than 24 hours after hitting an improbable buzzer-beating 3-pointer to top Pacific, Stellan Roberts became the newest member of the Puget Sound men's basketball program's 1,000-point club. However, the Loggers lost to Linfield, 86-76, in Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night.

Roberts entered the game needing just 12 points to reach the millennial mark. He had 11 points midway through the second half when John Misel pulled down a defensive rebound and lobbed a long pass to a wide open Roberts for an easy layup.

Roberts is the second Logger in as many years to eclipse 1,000 points in a career (Jimmy Wohrer '19).

Linfield (10-3, 4-0 NWC) overcame a 36-29 deficit at halftime. Puget Sound (7-6, 1-3 NWC) limited the Wildcats to just 34.5-percent shooting in the first half, but Linfield erupted in the second half. The Wildcats shot 67.9-percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes, including 7-for-12 from 3-point range.

Roberts scored 20 points overall, and Jourdan Joseph netted 14 off the bench. CJ Geathers (13 points) and Cal Hansen (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Loggers.

Puget Sound next hosts Pacific Lutheran Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 8 p.m.
