Both Logger Teams Place Third At Husky Invite

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Derek Frenzel had four top-5 finishes and set a Northwest Conference record in the 200 fly as the University of Puget Sound swimming teams placed third in the Husky Invitational this weekend. Frenzel placed second in both the 100 back and the 200 fly to lead the Loggers to a fifth-place finish in the three-day meet.

Frenzel's best swim came on Sunday with a second-place finish in the 200 fly. He recorded a time of 1:51.90 to place second in the even and earn a "B" cut. Jere Jeremikj also recorded a "B" cut with a third-place finish and a time of 1:52.17.

Frenzel also placed second in the 100 back with a time of 52.62 as well as placing fifth in the 500 free and sixth in the 100 fly. Jeremikj placed third in the 100 fly with a time of 50.80.

Tracy Wormwood also had a standout meet with a NCAA "B" cut and a third-place finish in the 200 breast. Wormwood turned in a time of 2:24.24 to capture her top finish at the meet. She also placed fourth in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.58.

Teale Kitson and Adam Ganz also recorded a pair of top-8 finishes in the meet to help the Loggers to a third-place finish. Kitson placed sixth in the 500 free with a time of 4:46.25 as well as third in the 200 back with a time of 1:53.76. Ganz brought home an eighth-place finish in the 100 free as well as fifth-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 21.32.

Another solid performance for the women's team came on the last day when Caitlin Fuller and Kelsey Elizondo tied for fifth in the 200 fly. Both swimmers touched the wall at 2:12.64 for the tie.

The logger relay teams also posted their fair share of solid performances. The men's teams placed third in the 200 free relay and the 800 free relay as well as posting a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The women's 400 medley relay team turned in a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:58.91. 

The Loggers will next compete at the Citrus Classic Invitational on Jan. 8-9 in Mesa, Ariz.
