Logger swimming continues hot start to season

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound swim teams continued their hot start to the 2014-15 season as both the men's and women's teams picked up conference wins at Willamette on Friday night.

The women's squad topped the Bearcats, 144-60, and the men's team edged the Northwest Conference rival, 104-101. 

Nick Mitchell picked up a trio of first-place finished for the Logger men, including the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:18.60), 400 individual medley (4:28.26), and 500 freestyle (4:55.52). The 200 freestyle relay team comprised of Mitch Kilgore, Matt Goldberg, Jared Fisk, and Clayton Jacobson picked up a win by finishing in 1:30.73.

Melissa Norrish picked up three first-place finishes for the Logger women. She won the 200 freestyle (1:59.51), 100 butterfly (1:00.15), and 500 freestyle (5:21.84).

Alex Koga, Lauren Kochanowski, Anne Shirey, and Michaela Metzler won the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.39. The women also won the 200 medley relay when Samantha Anders, Shirey, Auri Clark, and Melisa Kegans timed in 1:55.32.

Both Logger teams have a 3-1 overall record and are 3-0 in the NWC.

Puget Sound remains on the road for a 1 p.m. at Linfield on Saturday, Nov. 15.
