Women place third, men fifth at NWC Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Washington - The Puget Sound women's swim team finished third overall in the Northwest Conference Swimming Championships, and the Logger men placed fifth at the three-day event that concluded Sunday night at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center.

The Logger women totaled 458 points, and the men finished with 378.5. Whitman claimed conference titles on both the women's and men's side.

On Sunday, Nick Mitchell placed third in the men's 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:14.36. Carmena Mena placed fourth in the same even for the women, timing in at 18:00.70.

Aza Verhoeven was fifth in the women's 200 backstroke (2:07:58), and Dylan Reimers placed fourth in the men's event (1:53.72). Reimers was followed closely by David Olson (1:54.98).

Melisa Kegans (53.49) and Kayla Dimicco (53.55) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the women's 100 freestyle. Kelli Callahan took third in the women's 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.64.
