TACOMA, Washington - The Puget Sound men's outdoor track & field team placed second out of 11 teams at Pacific Lutheran Invitational on Saturday, while the Logger women finished fifth out of 13.
The Logger mean claimed the top three spots of the 5,000 meter run thanks to Tyler Shipley (15:04.31), Sam Carilli (15:32.45), and Joshua Seekatz (15:37.44). James Markin and Justin finished first and second, respectively, in the 3,000 meter steeple chase. Markin timed in at 9:59.717, and Higa crossed the finish line in 10:13.30. Everett West placed second in the 100 meter dash by timing in at 11.25 seconds.
On the women's side, Sierra Grunwald won the 1,500 meter un with a time of 4:58.16. Alison placed third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.27. Two-sport athlete Emily Sheldon (women's basketball) tied for the best mark in the high jump at 1.48 meters. Shelby Kantner tied for the second-best high jump finish at 1.43 meters.
The Loggers next compete at the Cal State Northridge Invitational on Thursday, March 19.
