NWC Championships are set for Parkland Friday and Saturday

TACOMA, Washington – The Northwest Conference Track & Field Championships are a short drive away in Parkland, Washington, where several Loggers are poised to claim All-NWC status. Pacific Lutheran hosts the championships, April 26-27.

A look at last year

Matt Wells aims to defend his NWC title in the 110-m hurdles – he timed in at 15.14 seconds during last year's championships. Jack Monaghan earned an All-NWC bid in the men's 800-m by timing in at 1:57.53. AJ Johnson claimed second place in the men's triple jump, clearing 13.56-m for an All-NWC honor. In all, the Puget Sound men and women captured six All-NWC performances.


Rankings this year

Jack Monaghan (1:54.92) and Emery Bradlina (2:18.15) both rank second in the NWC men's and women's 800-m, respectively. Bradlina's 4:43.10 time in the 1,500-m is also second in the conference. Matt Wells holds this season's top time in the 110-m hurdles (14.71), and Colin Monaghan has the second-best NWC time in the 10,000-m (31:37.13). AJ Johnson enters this weekend leading NWC men's triple jump competitors (13.69-m).


A couple more chances

Following the NWC Championships, Loggers will have a couple more chances to qualify for NCAA Championships. Puget Sound is slated to compete in the Portland Twilight (May 3) and the Final Qualifying Meet hosted by George Fox (May 15).
