Women's basketball upsets No. 25 Whitman, again

TACOMA, Washington – For the second time this season, the Puget Sound upset nationally-ranked Whitman, 60-55, in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night. The Blues entered the game ranked No. 25 in the nation by D3hoops.com. 

Puget Sound (19-4, 12-3 NWC) took its first lead of the game, 11-8, when Elizabeth Prewitt hit a 3-pointer with 2:47 left in the first quarter. The Loggers held the lead from that basket through the rest of the game.

The Loggers' largest lead of the game was 19 points, 35-16, with one minute left in the first half. Puget Sound's lead over Whitman (18-6, 12-3 NWC) at halftime was 35-19.

Prewitt led all scorers with 20 points, and Jamie Lange pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds. RaeAnn Allen netted 12 off the bench for the Loggers.

Earlier this season, when Whitman was ranked No. 24 in the country, the Loggers pulled off a 75-67 triumph in Walla Walla, Washington (Jan. 19).

Puget Sound hosts Whitworth Saturday, Feb. 16, at 4 p.m. It's the last game of the regular season. The Loggers can clinch a home game in the first round of the NWC Tournament with a win.
