Loggers upset No. 11 Trinity (Tex.), 1-0

TACOMA, Washington - Freshman Ava Cholakian netted her first career goal early in the second half, lifting the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over No. 11 Trinity (Tex.) in a non-conference matchup Friday afternoon in Baker Stadium.

Puget Sound tacked on its second win for the season, improving to 2-1-1 overall. The Tigers fell 3-1-0 overall.

The Loggers wasted little time in scoring the game's first goal in the second half, as Cholakian ascended the ball into the left side of the net from outside the 18-yard box, scoring just 72 seconds into the latter period.

The Tigers outshot Puget Sound, 7-5, but it wasn't enough to impact the final score. Freshman goalkeeper Chaylea Tome played aggressively, breaking up a lot of crosses. She recorded one save for the game.

The Loggers open Northwest Conference action by hosting Whitman on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m. on East Field.
