FOREST GROVE, Oregon – Sarah Blumenfeld notched her fourth consecutive double-double, but the Puget Sound volleyball lost in five sets, 3-2 (21-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-17, 15-13), at Pacific Friday night.
Blumenfeld totaled 26 assists and 14 digs, both of which were team bests for the Loggers (8-9, 3-2 NWC). She has seven double-doubles this season.
Puget Sound set a positive tone early by winning the first set, 25-21. Blumenfeld was serving for the Loggers' final three points of the set, which included consecutive service aces.
The Loggers entered the fourth set with two sets in tow. They jumped out to a 4-1 lead following an ace by Chloe Akiona-Bannan. However, a 6-1 run by Pacific (12-4, 4-1 NWC) gave the Boxers a 7-6 edge, and they led for the rest of the set.
The fifth set began with a 4-2 Logger lead following a kill by Samantha Johnson. Puget Sound continued to lead by two, 6-4, when Blumenfeld put away a kill. The Boxers broke a 9-9 tie and held on to win the decisive set, 15-13.
Puget Sound takes on George Fox Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m.
