Holman's 18 kills leads Loggers to five-set win over Bruins

FOREST GROVE, Oregon – For the second time in as many days, the Puget Sound volleyball team played into five sets. This time around, the Loggers came away with a 3-2 (25-16, 20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-8) victory at George Fox Saturday night.

Loggers (9-9, 4-2 NWC) are 4-4 in five-set matches this season.

Jordan Holman tied her career-high in kills with 18, a mark she initially achieved just two matches ago at Lewis & Clark (Sept. 28). She also added a team-high 28 digs.

Alli Reviglio and Melanie Siacotos contributed 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Sarah Blumenfeld totaled 37 assists while the Loggers outhit the Bruins (4-11, 1-5 NWC), .194 - .133.

Puget Sound never trailed in the fifth set, and it took a 6-3 lead after a George Fox error. The Bruins clawed back to even the score, 7-7, but three consecutive miscues by George Fox allowed the Loggers to cushion their lead.

The Loggers closed the match with a 3-0 run, and an emphatic kill by Siacotos.

The Loggers host Pacific Lutheran for a midweek contest Wednesday, Oct. 9, starting at 7 p.m.
