Loggers host Lutes for midweek rivalry showdown

TACOMA, Washington – After four consecutive matches on the road, the Puget Sound volleyball team returns to Memorial Fieldhouse to host Pacific Lutheran Wednesday, October 9, at 7 p.m.

Taking the long way

Puget Sound has played in three consecutive five-set matches. The Loggers downed Lewis & Clark (Sept. 28) and George Fox (Oct. 5) during that stretch, but they lost at Pacific (Oct. 4). Overall, the Loggers are 4-4 in five-set matches.


Just killin' it

Jordan Holman recorded a personal-best 18 kills during the Loggers' win at Lewis & Clark. Just one week later, she matched that mark to lead Puget Sound over George Fox (Oct. 5). Holman's 172 kills ranks sixth in the Northwest Conference.


Top aces

The NWC's top two leaders in service aces wear the Maroon & White. Jordan Holman has a conference-best 34 service aces, and Sarah Blumenfeld has 33.


Setting the table

Sarah Blumenfeld and Aliah Ayau both rank among the NWC's top 10 for total assists. Blumenfeld (376) is fifth in the conference, and Ayau (241) ranks 10th.


Scouting Pacific Lutheran (11-7, 4-2 NWC)

The Lutes suffered conference losses against Whitworth and Pacific. In between those losses, PLU won four consecutive NWC matches. The Lutes lead the NWC in blocks per set (2.02), and they rank second in hitting percentage (.189). Danielle Skibiel leads the team in kills (232) and blocks (72).
