Monaghan wins second NWC title; three Loggers claim All-NWC honors

LAKEWOOD, Washington – Colin Monaghan is king of the Northwest Conference once again. The Puget Sound men's cross country sophomore is the NWC's Champion for the second consecutive year, and he is the NWC Men's Runner of the Year for the second time.

Puget Sound hosted the NWC Championships in Fort Steilacoom Park Saturday, where three Loggers earned All-NWC honors. In addition to Monaghan's championship run, Cody DeWitt earned an All-NWC Second team bid. Rachael Metzler also received an All-NWC Second Team honor in the women's race, marking the second all-conference nod in the junior's collegiate career.

Monaghan crossed the finish like 24:35.5, just two seconds ahead of the second-place runner in the 8k. DeWitt's time was 26:09.2. He narrowly claimed the all-conference bid by 1.4 seconds.

Metzler's time in the women's 6k was 23:10.1.

The Logger men finished seventh as a team, and the women placed eighth. Whitman won the women's NWC team title, and George Fox won the NWC men's crown.
